A dear friend of mine posted a commnt to my last entry and asked what I will miss the most when I move. Easy - friends and family.
I will miss talking to my mom every morning (yes, I talk to my mom every day! she is my best friend!).
I will miss the family get-togethers in San Diego with my aunties and grandma.
I will miss running upstairs to tell Staci about my day and either share the awesome thing that happened or rant about the idiots I encountered during the day, and the awesome Monday night dinners with with Staci, Alejandro and whoever else shows up.
There is so much that I will miss, but almost all of it centers around the time I spend with the people who are important to me. To all my dear friends & family: COME AND VISIT ME IN SICILY!!!

Sitting in an empty apartment is surreal...
Our movers came today and with the exception of a few things that are going in an express shipment and our suitcases, our apartment is completely emtpy. So empty that it echos.
It really sank in that we are leaving when I watched the moving truck drive away with three sealed crates of our belongings that will be shipped to Sicily.
Now, for the next week to ten days we are "camping out". We borrowed an air mattress & basic linens from my grandma and will be hanging out in our empty apartment. I am really missing my sofa, or desk and chair right now. Hard wood floors aren't very comfortable!
I'm looking forward to hitting the road. Once we leave the apartment we will be traveling for a few weeks visiting friends and family, and we plan on sneaking in a little mini vacation at a wonderful spa in the Napa Valley. I can't wait!

The "goodbyes" begin...
San Diego has been good to us. We've put down roots and made some great friends. Last night we had to say goodbye to a few of those friends. The ship that my husband was stationed on is leaving for deployment in a few days, and going along with it are many of our friends. We met up with a bunch of them last night for a final farewell and had a great time. Saying goodbbye hit me a bit harder than expected; another blast of reaity that we really are leaving.

On the road again
In about an hour I will be off again - this time to Las Vegas, the second time within a week.
I will be there for work, finishing up with one of my primary clients. My initial plans were to continue on to Phoenix to visit friends and go to a bridal shower, but I sort of panicked last night when I realized that I would be gone for four nights and when I return I would have only seven more nights to sleep in my own bed before it is shipped off to Sicily. That's right, my movers come a week from Monday and I am nowhere close to ready.
I need to take an inventory of our house and really determine what will stay and what will go, and then make sure everything that stays will either fit in our allowed number of suitcases or will be disposed of when we leave. A daunting task to say the least.
I wish I could go to Phoenix and visit my friends. I was really looking forward to seeing them, but my sanity has to come first.
